Ziarska valley is a very popular destination for lovers of hiking in the Western Tatras. A blue-marked hiking trail and a 6km long asphalt road run through the valley, which ends at the Žiarská cottage. This route is also very suitable for families with children who can handle this climb without any problems. From Žiarská chata, you can continue on marked trails for hikes to Smutné sedlo, Žiarske sedlo, to Baranec, Plačlivé, Ostrý Roháč, Baníkov or Volovec. If you want to speed up your journey from Žiarská dolina down to the parking lot, you can do so by riding a scooter that you can rent at the cottage. Since 2012, Medvedia stólňa has been accessible at the beginning of the Žiarská Valley - the only old mining site in Liptov, where you can see the places that people excavated in an attempt to obtain glittering gold.
Demanovska valley is the most visited valley of the Low Tatras. It is located south of Liptovský Mikuláš on the northern slopes of the Low Tatras and is part of the Low Tatras National Park (NAPANT). Its most famous attractions are the Demänovské caves and the Jasná ski resort. Jasná is actually the highest part of the Demänovská valley. Tourists in this valley can take many different hikes and trips to the Low Tatras. For example, we can recommend a cable car trip to Chopok mountain and from there for more demanding tourists, e.g. ridge hike to Ďumbier. And don't forget to take a walk along the banks of Vrbicke pleso, which you can also find in Jasná.
Prosiecka valley is deservedly part of the Chočské vrchy national nature reserve. In connection with the nearby parallel Kvacianska valley - it forms a wonderful tourist route Prosiecka and Kvačianska dolina. Among the biggest attractions is the Vráta gorge right at the entrance to the valley, later it is a waterfall and at the end ladders leading up the rocks in the gorge. The route also includes the SVORADOV educational trail as well as two water mills, which are a technical monument. One of the mills is even fully functional. During the hike, you will also come across viewing platforms that provide visitors with the prerequisites for an unforgettable experience of a day-long hike through beautiful nature.
Cerenová rock is located in Chočské vrchy behind the village of Liptovská Anna. It is not a very prominent hill, but at the top of this columnar rock there is a platform from which you can see an unforgettable and one of the most beautiful views of the surroundings of Liptov, the Liptovská Mara dam and the Low Tatras. The hike is not time-consuming - it takes about 1 hour to get to the top of the rock. You can do it even with small children.
Havranok Archaeological Museum above the dam wall of Liptovska Mary. It is located 2 km south of the village of Bobrovník in the district of Liptovský Mikuláš. It is located at the eastern foot of Úložisko hill. The Celtic fortification of the Kotín settlement with a Druid sanctuary from the 1st century BC was discovered here. There was a Slavic settlement here in the 12th to 15th centuries. Today, you can admire reconstructed residential buildings, a shrine, a kiln for firing ceramics, and ramparts with a gate. During the summer season, Havránok also becomes the scene of cultural events such as sword fights or demonstrations of Celtic religious ceremonies and period crafts.
Liptovský hrad is a castle ruin in Liptov, near the borders of Liptovský Mikuláš and Ružomberok districts. The remains of this castle stand on Sestrč hill above the villages of Kalameny and Bukovina. The castle was the highest castle in Slovakia and the first mentions of it date from 1262. In the 80s of the 20th century, its foundations were reconstructed and the remains of two cisterns, a palace and towers were also uncovered. The entire area is publicly accessible and can be reached by the red-marked hiking trail Vlachy – Havránok – Bukovina – Sedlo pod Kráľovou, or the yellow-marked hiking trail Kalameny – Sedlo pod Kráľovou and on to the Poľana saddle.
Janska valley is one of the oldest nature reserves in Slovakia and at the same time one of the longest valleys of the Low Tatras. It starts in the spa village of Liptovský Ján and there are many dives, hot springs, springs of mineral and thermal waters and caves. The most famous caves include Stanišovská jaskyňa, Partizánska jaskyňa, Hlboká jaskyňa and others. Well-visited hiking trails lead through the valley leading to the Ohnište, Slemä and Krakova hoľa hills or to the M.R. Štefánika Cottage in Ďumbierske sedlo.
